The Caboodle Story…

Caboodle Business Support – Real People, Real Numbers, Real Talk.

Let’s face it, accountancy doesn’t typically come with an inspiring backstory. But Caboodle’s journey is a little different. It’s about taking meaningful risks, finding purpose, and building something that feels truly real.

In 2016, our founder, Karen, made a bold decision. After years of climbing the corporate ladder, she realised what mattered most to her: helping business owners in a more personal, practical way. By 2018, she co-founded Peppermint Cloud Ltd, offering accountancy and business support to over 150 clients who valued her straightforward, down-to-earth approach.

It was during this time that Karen met Ian, then a senior manager at a local business. He and the company’s directors hired Peppermint Cloud to help them put the company on a more sustainable financial path.  The results spoke for themselves — the business’s valuation rose considerably before it was sold in 2021. The transformation was impressive, but what really stood out was how seamlessly Karen and Ian’s skills and values aligned.

In 2024, Karen made the heartfelt decision to step away from Peppermint Cloud and start something new. With a shared vision of doing accountancy differently, Karen and Ian reunited to shape what would become Caboodle. Their goal? To create a business that combines solid financial expertise with a coaching-led mindset, where clients feel heard, supported, and empowered to grow with confidence.

To bring that vision to life, they knew they needed the right team.

First on board was Roz, a trusted former colleague of Karen’s and now Caboodle’s Director of Operations. After years of ‘what if’ conversations, the timing finally clicked. With a wealth of experience and a friendly approach Roz is passionate about making accountancy feel less intimidating — and even a little fun! She’s gifted at putting people at ease and helping them feel comfortable navigating their finances.

Next came Caroline — once a client and now a key part of the Caboodle crew. A true people person (and always ready for a chat), Caroline brings real energy and connection to the team. With a background in branding, marketing, and business development, she adds fresh insight to both Caboodle and the clients we serve.

Today, Caboodle is a small but mighty team with a big mission: to make accountancy accessible, supportive, and genuinely helpful. We’re here for the whole picture — not just your numbers, but your goals, your challenges, and your growth.

Karen

Hi, I’m Karen – Managing Director of Caboodle.

With over 30 years of accounting experience (yes, I started young!), I help small businesses not just get by, but thrive. I’m an FCCA, CTA, and FMAAT, working with purpose-driven people who value clear, honest advice and down-to-earth support.

Professional standing: Caboodle Business Support is listed in the ACCA directory (firm registration 4145795). We are also a Xero partner and members of the Federation of Small Businesses and the Salisbury & District Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

Over the years, I’ve worked with clients in the construction, creative, and health industries, and I’ve noticed a common pattern—people leave employment for freedom, only to find themselves with a tougher boss: themselves. That’s why our focus is the business owner. It’s not just about profits and paperwork, but about clarity, purpose, and alignment. When you’re connected to what really matters, your business—and you—stand a much better chance of succeeding.

My coaching-led approach blends practical advice with real care. I’m here to help you feel confident, supported, and in control—so you’re not just running a business, but building a life that works for you.

Born and raised in Salisbury, I believe in working hard and playing harder. When I’m not supporting clients, I’m probably outdoors—camping under the stars, soaking up sea air, or planning my next Isle of Wight trip. I’m also a proud mum of two and hope to one day split my time between home, travel, and boat life (stay tuned!).

Ian

Hi, I’m Ian – Caboodle’s Managing Partner, Director and team coach (aka the one who’s been around the block a few times).

With over 40 years of experience across an eclectic mix of sectors and roles, and an MBA from Aston University along the way, change has been a constant in my life.  My role now is to grow Caboodle in parallel with supporting our clients.  We consciously incorporate a coaching approach into everything we do here, and I know how transformative the right conversation, at the right time, can be.

My mission, through coaching, is to help business owners to truly align their personal and business values and goals – that’s when the real magic happens!

Outside of Caboodle, I’m really into stories – whether they’re expressed through books, film, or art (I dabble a bit, too).  I love music, the natural world, and the joy of exploring new cultures whenever I get the chance.

Roz

Hi, I’m Roz – Caboodle’s Director of Operations.

With over 15 years of experience in the accounting world, I’ve built a strong foundation in finance and tax, all while keeping things approachable and down-to-earth. I’m fully qualified through both FMAAT and ATT, and I’m all about making finance feel stress-free and doable — not intimidating.

I love connecting with people and helping them feel confident about their numbers. Whether we’re diving into taxes, chatting business trends, or brainstorming your next big idea, I keep things simple, straightforward, and human. My approach is always about building confidence and clarity—so clients don’t just understand their numbers, but feel empowered to make decisions that move them forward.

Originally from Andover and now based just outside Salisbury, I live in a lively household full of boys. When I’m not crunching numbers, you’ll find me out on a long walk, browsing for the latest fashion finds, or planning a last-minute caravan escape—because life’s better with a bit of adventure.

Caroline

Hi, I’m Caroline — Director of Business Development at Caboodle.

I’m all about shaping Caboodle’s strategy so that what we offer truly supports and empowers our clients. With my background in marketing, branding, and business development (and a stint running my own business), I focus on driving innovation and sustainable growth at Caboodle. I love rolling up my sleeves to oversee key projects and make sure we’re always moving in the right direction.

I’m passionate about helping people own their business journeys – especially those who know their craft inside out but are still figuring out the rest. Having managed my own limited company, I empathise with our clients’ challenges and bring that understanding into everything I do at Caboodle. For me, it’s all about meaningful conversations, confidence-building, and community.

I’m Salisbury born and bred; living here with my husband and our two energetic boys. When I’m not at work, you’ll probably find me soaking up the countryside, diving into a Netflix series, or dancing around my living room like it’s 1999!
